Going to See Rob Booker in Sydney

About 3 weeks ago I got an email from Rob Booker saying that he was coming to give a seminar in Sydney. I immediately signed up no questions asked. I didn’t need to read the sales pitch. I didn’t even read the email. Actually I missed the first email that came that said that Rob was coming because the message was deep in the email. (I don’t read many emails which don’t have a subject pertaining to something I’m interested in). I only read the email which had the subject of “Sydney Seminar Update” from “Rob Booker”. Anyway, I sent my US$1,300 and the deal was done.
Why am I so keen to see Rob Booker? Why do I easily spend so much money on some forex trading course? I don’t spend much on courses. Actually I never do. There are so many companies out there flogging trading products and services. I’ve met a few junkies who actually keep buying and buying hoping their trading vastly improves. I’m no junkie. I first met Rob Booker in early 2008 at the New York Trader’s Expo. I’ve read a few of his free ebooks[link] by that time, but I wasn’t aware of any his published books: Adventures of a Currency Trader and Handbook of Forex Strategies. [AMAZON] When I saw his name on the roster of free seminars I decided to rock up and have a listen. (At the same expo Steve Nison was there flogging his Candlestick Education packages and Kathy Lien and Boris Schlossberg were there working for FXCM (at that time) and they were also flogging their book about traders). Anyway, I was there at Rob’s 2 hour freebie.
My first impression of Rob Booker was that he was eccentric. He didn’t fit the “Wall Street” look. He didn’t fit what I thought he would have looked like. (But then again, if I had read his published books I would have expected something like this). What I liked about his was that he was funny, comedic and had a lot of funny trading stories to which I could relate from my own experience. He openly claimed that he wasn’t trying to sell us anything – but was there solely just to share his passion for forex trading (for a living). (I guess he had the last laugh because by doing that free seminar, he effectively ‘sold’ me something about one and a half years later. See in another perspective: Rob is a big believer of karma. So as he shared his time with us then, the good karma returned to him when I signed up to the Sydney seminar).
Anyway, as I look to attend the seminar tomorrow. I have no expectations. I want to go in there with an open mind. Find out what he’s been up to and what he wants to share with us.
